Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.Diversity Equity and Inclusion is central to engaging individuals, households, communities, and policymakers in building a more perfect democracy.

Why Join the League?

Be part of an organization that:

  • Empowers millions of voters to exercise their right to vote through registration drives, candidate forums, debates, and public education.

  • Protects the right to vote by fighting for free, fair, and accessible voting systems.

  • Advocates for positive change at local, state, and national levels on issues like civic education, government accountability, and money in politics.

  • Fosters civil dialogue on critical community issues such as government spending, fair housing, immigration, and civil liberties.

How the League is Organized (Tri-Federated Model)

LWV operates at three levels: Local, State, and National.

  • Members join their local League and automatically become members of the state and national Leagues.

  • Those who live within an area of a local League may join that League or any other local League;  Those who reside outside the area of any local League may join any local League or shall be state members-at-large.

  • This federated structure ensures local and state Leagues work in cooperation with the national League under unified bylaws.

  • Your membership dues directly support the League’s mission to protect and defend democracy at every level.
